Loughborough Summary

From the 7th – 9th August 2018 LMP ran its inaugural 3 day training residential for the Education team. This was an opportunity for a peripatetic workforce of Delivery Staff, Sales Staff and Internal Quality Assurance Staff to come together and build a true team mentality and sense of belonging.

Our first day focussed on scene setting, looking at how far we had come over the last 14 months and where we are heading over the forthcoming year. We discussed the success of our #SuperSeptember theme, a theme designed to focus all staff ready for our large yearly cohort intake, and launched our new theme #SoWhat.

The #SoWhat theme was devised to encourage all staff to really examine and question what we do in order to guarantee highest quality outcomes for our learners. #SoWhat was a cornerstone to the weekend, and will continue to be a focus of everything we do as an Education team moving into the new academic year.

After the opening presentation from Jamie and Jacob it was over to the Education team to present on the new apprenticeship standards offered by LMP Education, how they were run and what distinguishes us as market leaders in these areas. In response, the Sales team delivered presentations on the relationship building process with our contracts. These sessions served to enthuse and inspire all staff, whilst making sure Sales and Delivery staff can work together seamlessly to support each other in the field.

Our first day rounded off with a set of superbly structured team building activities encouraging all Education staff to work collaboratively with one another in a fun filled environment.

The second day of training was an opportunity to really dig into what we offer as a department and our ‘Journey to Outstanding’. We examined our new policies for Internal Quality Assurance and the strengths of LMP Education, how these strengths link to the best outcomes for our learners and how we reinforce this with the language we use with our learners and customers.

Ever dedicated to transitioning delivery into the digital age without losing the quality and value of face to face interaction, our IT Curriculum Lead delivered on new virtual learning software which will be incredibly beneficial, not just for learners but also for standardisation of practice across all of the Education Team.
We examined and re-affirmed our commitment to promote British Values as part of a great session run by our British Values & Prevent Ambassador, before rounding off with all staff having the opportunity to interact with and feed into our Quality Improvement Plan, this is crucial for us at LMP – we believe that quality provision comes from ownership at every stage in our process.

Our final day focussed on our learners; a brilliant guest speaker, The Man in The Orange Tie, encouraged us “Don’t believe everything you think”, a session to remind us to view situations in different ways and that not everyone will see or feel the same things at the same time. This session encouraged the necessity of building trust and rapport with our learners to give them the best opportunities and experience. We rounded off our final hours in Loughborough standardising our approach to learner reviews and assessment practice.
