Street Dance Camp 2008

Let Me Dance Camps have been running for 2 years at the Elmhurst School for Dance in Birmingham. The camp is the only residential Street Dance Camp in the UK. Using the school’s state-of-the-art dance facilities, the participants learn various styles of street dance and work towards a filmed performance on the last day which is ultimately the climax of the camp. The camp is for all levels of dancer, from beginner to advanced. We take from age 10 to 23, each group is split according to age and ability.

Bollywood - Summer Camp
 Venue: Elmhurst School for Dance, Birmingham, UK

The camp is fun and informal - learn the fusion of traditional and folk dances, classical Indian dance - like Kathak and Bharatanatyam, and western influences - jazz, hip hop and modern. A daily range of classes that will lead to a flimed final performance. Learn thee Bollywood moves!

Street Dance - Summer Camp

This STREET DANCE summer camp is a residential camp open to both boys and girls and is being held at the renowned Elmhurst School for Dance, a new state-of-the-art facility in Birmingham. The camp consists of a week of intensive dance tuition will all be in preparation for a filmed performance that will take place on the last day. The camp will provide:
1. A variety of Street Dance classes
2. Individual Instruction
3. An intensive but fun learning environment
4. The opportunity to take part in a filmed performance which will be available on DVD
5. K-Swiss Most Improved Dancer Award
6. A different activity each evening including a fashion show, quiz night, talent contest and party games!


Dance Teachers

We pride ourselves in finding the best people available to teach and choreograph on camp.  The 2007 camp was led by two dancers who have a wealth of experience – Caramel and Dwayne.  Caramel has danced at the Brits, Mobo’s as well as starring and choreographing several videos.  Joining her was Dwanye Nosworthy who is famously known for Jamielia’s Money video, was personally requested by one Victoria Beckham for her ‘Out of your Mind’ video, amongst having featured in many more.

Between them they have danced live with Kelly Rowland, Black Eyed Peas and the Suga Babes; certainly an impressive line-up.  Both came together for the first time to teach their moves to young people who love dance.

Participants at a Let Me Dance Camp can expect to learn several styles of dance including: popping, locking, steppin’, wackin’, contemporary, street and even ballet. 

Facilities

The school which is only a couple of years old has very comfortable living arrangements with studios, catering and accommodation all on one site. Our camp participants have shared bedrooms and there are lounges with televisions and DVD players for relaxation periods. The facilities include:
250-seat studio theatre incorporating the best modern technology
Theatre workshop and support facilities
7 dance studios
Music recital room
7 music practice rooms
ICT centre, with 30 networked computers
A suite of spacious and attractive academic classrooms
Medical centre
Physiotherapy and exercise centre

The Programme (Ages 10 to 23, boys and girls)

Street Dance Camp Residential: £399
Price includes; accommodation, 3 meals per day, dance camp and t-shirt.

Street Dance Camp Non-residential: £300
Price includes; 2 meals per day (breakfast and dinner), dance camp and t-shirt.

English Language Courses

English language courses sit along side all of our camps. If you would like to place your child on a special English language study course whilst he is on camp, please contact us for further information. Qualified teachers will spend 2 hours with your child each studying and learning to speak the English language. Your child will then spend the rest of the day as a regular member of the dance camp.
